Executive Principal’s Report
Dear Parents / Caregivers,
Our students are entering important assessment in the next couple of weeks and, in addition, we face many challenges with the ever evolving COVID-19 situation. Our priority is maintaining routines for our students and keeping them focused on their learning. I understand this may be difficult with the current climate, but it is equally important for our community to maintain some stability with essential services and family commitments.
We are aware of the impact on young people with this current situation and we will be talking through issues with students during their Pastoral Care time. This is an important strategy for students as they process all the information they are hearing. Our school support staff are making themselves available to speak with students if they need assistance to unpack and work through their emotions at this time. Every student reacts differently and we will ensure there is a range of support in place for our students. This is a very unique and challenging situation we are facing on a global scale.
For more information about COVID-19 please view the information from our School-Based Youth Health Nurse.
Cancellation of Events
In accordance with the recommended strategies for preventing the spread of COVID-19 the following events have been cancelled / postponed:
- Open Day
- Year 7 Badging Ceremony
- Full School Assemblies
- Excursions – except Senior field trips essential for assessment
- Social Events and activities at lunch time.
Facilities Work
Over the coming weeks we will be commencing some major facilities work across the school. The refurbishment of A Block will begin during the school holidays and by the end of term 3 we will have three state of the art studios for visual art and a collaborative, flexible space upstairs for classroom breakouts. The building will take on a whole new look which will modernise this space.

Corinda Cares
Tonight was our first opportunity this year to be part of the Rosies Evening Outreach Program which allows students and staff to connect with the homeless and socially excluded. It’s always a great evening of sharing stories and we are fortunate to be part of this wonderful program again this year. We look forward to heading out with the Rosies team next term. A big thank you to Mr Fauid, Ms O’Brien, Nandini and Selena for giving up your time to volunteer as part of our Corinda Cares initiative.
Student Leadership Day
The 2020 Student Leadership team enjoyed a brilliant day at Runaway Bay to build skills in communication, compassion and teamwork. Standup paddle boarding was an absolute highlight! We were very proud to receive feedback at the end of the day that they were one of the best groups the facilitators had ever worked with.
