Executive Principals Report
Dear Parents and Friends
What a wonderful week of celebrations we had last week as we farewelled the graduating class of 2018. Our seniors made us very proud both on Monday evening at the Graduation Ball and at our official ceremony on Friday. Both events I hope will provide many fond memories for our graduates and their families. We wish them all the very best and eagerly await their much anticipated OP results when they are released in December.

QCS Results
Last week we were able to access a summary of QCS test scores. Unfortunately, we do not have individual results, but from the information released, we are pleased to report that we have had an increase in the percentage of students receiving As. The data is the best in the history of our school, so this can only mean that our school mean will also be higher than past years, and hopefully pushing up subject scores. We are very eager to see the impact that this will have on OP results.
Year 10 and 11 Assessment
Our Year 10 and 11 students are heavily engaged in assessment over the next week. I wish them all the best for their exams and encourage you all to ensure they make every piece of assessment count. Sometimes at this time of year, it can be very hard to stay focused. It is important that we continue to keep them in routine and support our students to ensure they achieve their potential. It is a difficult time for Parents to maintain momentum at this time of year, with so many social engagements, end of year concerts and extracurricular commitments placing demands on families. The end of term is in sight and I thank you for your ongoing support with our students.

Remembrance Day
On Friday 9 November students from Year 7-10 participated in the Remembrance Day ceremony. This year marks an especially significant date, a century since the signing of the armistice ending the First World War. Students showed great respect during the ceremony, which involved a number of students from all year levels. Student leaders assisted in preparing the ceremony, sharing the significance of the day. Army and air force cadets also participated in the ceremony, forming the Catafalque Party. Thank you to all teachers and students that were involved in the ceremonies.
Australia-ASEAN Youth Forum
On Tuesday 30 October, six students from Year 11 attended and participated in the Australia-ASEAN Youth Forum. The day is designed to deepen students’ understanding of Southeast Asia and Australia’s relationship with the region through role-play. Students discussed key issues facing Southeast Asia from the perspectives of Australia and the 10 ASEAN Member States. Working in teams, our students worked with other schools to consider how climate change is impacting these countries, as well as put forward shared strategies for collaboration on these issues. Thank you to Ms Heymer for leading the students in this day.

10 Science Honours
10 Science Honours students experienced real forensic investigation with Senior Constable Matthew Hulbert from the Calamvale Scenes of Crime Unit.
Senior Constable Hulbert spoke about how to examine a crime scene, gather evidence and look for hidden clues in the physical, chemical and biological material left behind. The 10 Science Honours student will be able to apply this real-world experience to their semester work involving chemistry and biology.
We thank Senior Constable Hulbert for his time and expertise along with our CSIRO STEM Professional In School, Mr Randeep Agarwal from the Origin Foundation. We also thank Dr Anton Rayner, 10 Science Honour teacher, for liaising with all stakeholders and making the opportunity a reality for our students
